The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has showcased intentions to update the classifications for Sodium Fluoride under the CMR (Carcinogenic, Mutagenic, and Reprotoxic) categories. This proposal come from France with classification deadlines set for 30th November. If classified as CMR substances, these ingredients will require comprehensive safety data submissions under Article 15 of the UK and EU Cosmetics Regulations to continue their use in cosmetics. The Cosmetic, Toiletry, and Perfumery Association (CTPA) is currently seeking company comments to defend these ingredients to potentially secure their status in Annex III of the Cosmetics Regulation. Interested parties should contact CTPA by May 8, 2024.
