On 15 May 2026, Argentine National Administration of Drugs, Foods and Medical Devices (ANMAT) announced the incorporation of MERCOSUR GMC Resolution No. 27/25 into Argentina’s national regulatory framework through Provision No. 2820/26. The measure updates the technical regulation governing substance lists applicable to personal hygiene products, cosmetics, and perfumes, replacing and amending provisions previously incorporated under ANMAT Provision No. 6433/2015. The revision forms part of ongoing efforts by member states of the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR) to harmonize health and safety requirements for cosmetic and personal care products across the region. Under the updated regulation, two substances - Diphenyl(2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl)phosphine oxide and N,N-dimethyl-p-toluidine - have been added to the list of ingredients prohibited for use in the manufacture of cosmetics, personal hygiene products, and perfume products marketed in Argentina. The amendment aims to strengthen consumer protection by ensuring that products placed on the market comply with updated safety standards. To facilitate compliance, the regulation provides a 60-day transition period, allowing manufacturers, importers, and other responsible parties to modify product formulations, update registration information, and implement any necessary regulatory adjustments before the new requirements become fully applicable.
