On June 2, 2026, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) announced the launch of the new Chesar Platform, a cloud-based application designed to support chemical risk assessment and reporting under the European Union’s REACH and Biocidal Products regulations. The platform integrates the functionalities of the existing Chesar tool and the EU System for the Evaluation of Substances (EUSES) into a single environment, providing a structured workflow for conducting exposure, risk, and safety assessments. The new platform supports the preparation of chemical safety assessments, chemical safety reports, exposure scenarios for safety data sheets, and environmental risk assessments for biocidal active substances. It also incorporates updated exposure assessment models, harmonized reporting capabilities, and synchronization with IUCLID data to improve assessment efficiency and consistency. According to ECHA, the latest scientific updates for chemical risk assessment methodologies will be available exclusively through the Chesar Platform. The platform is available through ECHA Cloud Services and will gradually replace the current Chesar 3 tool, EUSES 2.2.0, and ECHA’s Excel-based biocides calculation tools. ECHA will continue supporting the existing Chesar 3 application for approximately one year to facilitate users’ transition to the new system.
