On 18 May 2026,EUROPEN announced the launch of its “PPWR Conformity Assessment Toolkit” to support companies preparing for implementation of the European Union Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), which will begin applying from August 2026. The toolkit was developed to help businesses across the packaging value chain understand and comply with new conformity assessment obligations introduced under the regulation. According to EUROPEN, the PPWR requires companies placing packaging on the European Union market to demonstrate compliance with sustainability requirements related to substances in packaging, recyclability, and packaging labeling. Businesses will also be required to prepare key compliance documentation, including the EU Declaration of Conformity and supporting technical documentation. The organisation stated that the toolkit is intended to simplify interpretation of the complex legal framework by helping companies identify applicable PPWR obligations, understand required data collection and documentation requirements, and anticipate future compliance timelines.
