On 12 June 2026, Thailand's Ministry of Public Health published a notification in the Royal Gazette amending the annexes to the Notification on prohibited substances in cosmetic products under the Cosmetics Act B.E. 2558 (2015). The amendment updates the national list of ingredients that are prohibited for use in cosmetic products to strengthen consumer safety and align Thailand's cosmetic controls with evolving international scientific and regulatory standards. The revision newly prohibits 2-ethylhexanoic acid and its salts (CAS 149-57-5), Theophylline (CAS 58-55-9), and Octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane (D4, CAS 556-67-2), with D4 prohibited when present as an impurity at concentrations exceeding 0.1%. Additionally, the notification expands the prohibited substances list by introducing 24 new entries (Nos. 1686–1709), including Ammonium bromide, Dibutyltin compounds, Tellurium dioxide, Bisphenol S, Melamine, Cumene, Acetamiprid, Pendimethalin, Bentazone, and other chemicals identified by their respective CAS numbers. These amendments require cosmetic manufacturers, importers, and distributors to review product formulations and ensure that affected ingredients are not present in cosmetics marketed in Thailand, thereby supporting compliance with the revised regulatory framework.
