Diphenyl(2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl)phosphine oxide (DPTB) is harmful for reproduction, hence Sweden plans to submit a request to ECHA to designate it as a Substance of Very High Concern (SVHC). No later than January 19, 2023, a dossier must be filed.

In its role as a photoinitiator, the organic molecule DPTB absorbs light to produce reactive species that may kick off polymerization events. Coatings, adhesives, and inks are just some of the many goods that may benefit from the usage of DPTB.

Products made from paper (such as tissues, feminine hygiene products, napkins, books, magazines, wallpaper), plastic, and fabric (such as clothes, mattresses, curtains, carpets, textile toys) may include this chemical (e.g. food packaging and storage, toys, mobile phones).
