"The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) has announced the establishment of an electronic testing and inspection certificate issuance system for the food and pharmaceutical sectors. The system will be piloted starting November 6, 2025, enabling authorized testing and inspection institutions to issue electronic reports through the integrated Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). Led by Minister Oh Yoo-kyung, this initiative aims to improve efficiency and reduce administrative costs associated with paper-based reporting.
An information session for testing and inspection agency personnel is scheduled on November 5, ahead of the pilot launch. As part of the regulatory innovation project, the integrated LIMS will allow clients to access, manage, and distribute electronic certificates via Government24 at any time and from any location. Park Jong-eon, Chairman of the Korea Food Testing and Inspection Association, highlighted that the introduction of electronic test reports will significantly reduce costs, minimize administrative burdens, and enhance customer trust. The MFDS expects this system to strengthen reliability, convenience, and public confidence, fostering an environment where food and medicines can be consumed with assurance and safety."
