Vietnam Implements Policies to Prevent and Combat Counterfeit Drugs and Fake  

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) in Vietnam issued a directive to implement policies and laws aimed at preventing and combating counterfeit drugs and fake foods. The directive outlines responsibilities across ministries and agencies, emphasizing coordinated actions, digital transformation, and resource assurance. 

Key highlights include: 

• Regulatory Guidance: The Department of Domestic Market Management and Development issued Official Dispatch No. 2824/TTTN-NV to relevant units, emphasizing adherence to existing laws and instructions from the Deputy Prime Minister and the National Assembly’s Committee on Culture and Society.
• Explanation Sessions: Organized to identify harmful effects, assess achievements and difficulties, and propose solutions.
• Harmful Effects: Counterfeit drugs pose serious health risks, particularly for children and pregnant women, along with broader economic and social impacts.
• Proposed Solutions: Strengthening policies and laws, improving inter-sectoral coordination, applying digital tools like QR codes and blockchain, enhancing inspection and enforcement, and boosting resources for testing and infrastructure.
