On May 19, 2025, The European Commission has issued a call for data on the safety of phytonadione epoxide (Vitamin K oxide) (CAS No. 25486-55-9), commonly used in cosmetics like eye creams and anti-aging products. This initiative, under Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009, seeks to gather scientific information on its toxicology, exposure levels, and safe concentrations following reports of allergic contact dermatitis (ACD), particularly in Spain. Stakeholders—including researchers, manufacturers, and consumer groups—are invited to submit relevant data by 18 May 2026 to support a safety assessment by the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS). The findings may inform future regulatory actions to ensure consumer protection.
