"The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued an interim final rule amending the data submission period for the PFAS reporting requirements under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). The revised timeline shifts the start of the submission period to April 13, 2026, with an end date of October 13, 2026. For small manufacturers reporting exclusively as article importers, the deadline is extended to April 13, 2027. The original rule, promulgated in October 2023, mandates manufacturers (including importers) of perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) during any year from 2011 to 2022 to report data related to exposure and environmental and health effects. The amendment allows EPA additional time to develop the necessary reporting application. EPA is also considering reopening parts of the rule for further public comment. The reporting delay ensures the Agency has sufficient time to address public feedback and implement any final rule modifications before the reporting period begins. Effective date of interim final rule is May 13, 2025 and deadline for public comments is June 12, 2025."
