"On May 13, 2025, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published an interim final rule (Document No. 2025-08168; 90 FR 20236) under 40 CFR Part 705 to revise the data submission timeline for the PFAS reporting rule mandated by the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). This change shifts the reporting start date to April 13, 2026, and sets the submission end date to October 13, 2026, with an extended deadline of April 13, 2027 for small manufacturers importing only articles. The PFAS reporting rule, finalized in October 2023, requires manufacturers and importers of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) active between 2011 and 2022 to submit detailed data on uses, exposures, and health/environmental effects. The adjustment is intended to give EPA more time to finalize the reporting system and to allow consideration of potential rule modifications based on public feedback. Comments on this interim rule are open until June 12, 2025."
