European Commission Grants Union Authorisation for Biocidal Product ‘Chlorine’ – Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/834

"On 6 May 2025, the European Commission released Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/834, granting a Union authorisation (No. EU-0028952-0000) to CGV Chlorgas Vertriebs GmbH for the single biocidal product ‘Chlorine’, in accordance with Regulation (EU) No 528/2012. The product falls under Product Types 2 and 5 as defined in Annex V of the Regulation and contains active chlorine released from chlorine at a concentration of 100% (w/w). The application was originally submitted on 20 December 2018 and evaluated by Slovenia as the competent authority. Following the completion of the assessment process by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), the product was deemed compliant with Article 19(1) of Regulation (EU) No 528/2012 and suitable for Union authorisation. The Union authorisation is valid from 26 May 2025 to 30 April 2035, with adjusted SPC conditions applicable within Germany’s territory for Use 3. This Regulation shall enter into force on the twentieth day following its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union (i.e. on May, 26, 2025).
