On May 13, 2025, Taiwan's Ministry of Environment issued a revision to the existing announcement concerning the regulation of toxic chemical substances and their operational management. This amendment updates several appendices in the original announcement, notably Appendix One, which contains a comprehensive list of regulated toxic chemical substances, their control concentrations, and thresholds for graded operations. The listed substances include polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), DDT, mercury compounds, various cyanides, and heavy metal chromates, among others. Each entry provides the chemical name (in Chinese and English), molecular formula, CAS number, regulated concentration (%), and corresponding handling quantity (in kilograms). The announcement is effective immediately unless otherwise specified, and is grounded in Articles 8, 11, and 44(4) of Taiwan’s Toxic and Concerned Chemical Substances Control Act. This update reflects the government’s continued effort to safeguard public health and environmental safety through strict chemical control standards.
