the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration (DVFA) submitted a consultation request under Article 4(2) of Regulation (EU) 2015/2283 to determine the novel food status of bovine milk whey protein concentrate (WPC) containing milk fat globular membrane (MFGM). The product is produced using standard EU dairy industry techniques, such as membrane filtration, resulting in a composition of 71% protein, 19% fat, with reduced lactose content compared to standard WPC. It has been marketed in the EU since before 15 May 1997, including in infant formulas and follow-on formulas, and has a history of safe use. Therefore, it was concluded that this product does not qualify as a novel food under Regulation (EU) 2015/2283.
