In January 2025, the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) reported the rejection of 357 batches of imported food from 38 countries and regions. The top sources of these rejected imports were the United States (83 batches), Malaysia (36 batches), the Philippines (22 batches), Thailand (19 batches), and Denmark (18 batches). The primary categories of rejected products included alcoholic beverages, meat products, miscellaneous foods, aquatic products, and grain products. The leading causes for rejection were unqualified labeling, non-compliance with national food safety standards, discrepancies between cargo and certificates, lack of market access permits, and issues with overseas food manufacturer registration.
