In May 2025, China's National Health Commission (NHC) initiated a public consultation on 28 draft national food safety standards and amendment sheets, with a significant focus on dairy products. The proposed standards aim to enhance regulations across various categories, including milk powder, infant formula, fermented milk, and sterilized milk, by updating requirements related to raw materials, nutritional composition, contaminants, and labeling. Additionally, the drafts encompass revisions to standards for food additives, food contact materials, microbiological testing methods, and labeling protocols. These updates are part of China's ongoing efforts to strengthen food safety governance and align with international best practices. Stakeholders are encouraged to submit their comments during the consultation period to contribute to the refinement of these standards
