The European Commission has evaluated quercetin derived from the plant *Dimorphandra mollis* Benth and determined it to be a novel food under Regulation (EU) 2015/2283. This quercetin, with a purity of 98%, is obtained through extraction and acidic hydrolysis from the dried fruit of *D. mollis*. Classified under Article 3(2)(a)(iv) as a food "consisting of, isolated from, or produced from plants or their parts," this determination was made due to the absence of evidence indicating significant human consumption of this specific quercetin in the EU prior to May 15, 1997.
