The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is revising its color additive regulations to permit the broader safe use of butterfly pea flower extract, Calcium Phosphate and Galdieria Extract Blue as a color additive in products such as ready-to-eat cereals, crackers, snack mixes, hard pretzels, plain potato chips (restructured or baked), corn chips, tortilla chips, and multigrain chips, in accordance with good manufacturing practice (GMP). This regulatory action follows a color additive petition (CAP) submitted by Sensient Colors, LLC.
