The Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport has announced an amendment to the Commodities Act Regulation on Food Supplements, officially published in the Government Gazette (Staatscourant 2024, No. 42883).
Key updates: The amendment introduces new maximum limits for vitamin D in food supplements.It sets the maximum amount of vitamin D per daily dose for adults and children from 11 years at 75 micrograms (µg). For children aged 1 to 10 years, the maximum is set at 35 micrograms (µg) per daily dose. These adjustments align Dutch national regulations with the latest scientific risk assessments and European food safety recommendations.The regulation ensures enhanced consumer protection by preventing excessive intake of vitamin D through supplements.
