New Age International Inc., based in Brooklyn, NY, has recalled all lots of its Daily Veggies brand Enoki Mushrooms (200g packages) due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. This bacterium can cause serious infections, especially in vulnerable populations such as young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. The affected products were distributed to wholesalers in New York and subsequently to retailers in other states. The mushrooms are packaged in clear plastic with yellow and green labeling, marked as "Daily Veggies Enoki Mushroom Product of Korea Net Wt. 200g (7.05oz)" and bear the UPC code 8809159458890. The potential contamination was identified after testing by the West Virginia Department of Agriculture. No illnesses have been reported to date.
