Following the WOAH report dated 16 May 2025, a Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) outbreak has been confirmed in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. In accordance with the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) Terrestrial Animal Health Code Chapter 10.4, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia considers it necessary to prevent the introduction of the HPAI virus into its territory. Consequently, the importation of poultry meat, eggs, and related products from Rio Grande do Sul to Saudi Arabia is temporarily suspended. An exception is made for processed poultry meat and egg products that have undergone heat treatment or other approved processes ensuring the inactivation of the HPAI virus, provided they meet the established health standards and are accompanied by a health certificate issued by official Brazilian authorities confirming the product is free from the virus.
