On February 13, 2025, the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) announced the "Usage Restrictions and Labeling Requirements for γ-Aminobutyric Acid (GABA) as a Food Ingredient Produced by Microbial Fermentation," effective immediately. This regulation specifies the permissible uses and necessary labeling for GABA derived from microbial fermentation in food products. Notably, Section 4 of the regulation will come into effect on January 1, 2026.
