On May 23, 2025, the UAE issued Notice SPS/N/ARE/295, which released national guidelines for regulatory agencies and food business registration for export to the UAE. The main contents of the notice are:
1. The purpose of this guide is to outline the procedures and trade practices to be followed by foreign food companies exporting food to the UAE;
2. These procedures are implemented through official regulatory authorities responsible for food safety in the country of origin/export;
3. The guidelines aim to achieve the following objectives: Ensure the safety and quality of food exported to the country; Guarantee that imported food is produced and handled under hygienic conditions in enterprises that meet sanitary, veterinary and food safety standards; Facilitate the smooth flow of food exports to the country; Strengthen food control measures to identify potential food safety risks before products enter the country; Assess whether foreign enterprises comply with regulatory requirements and applicable food safety standards; Simplify customs clearance procedures for imported food and support local authorities in making informed decisions on acceptance or rejection; Ensure that imported food complies with the provisions of Federal Law No. (10) of 2015 on Food Safety, as well as UAE specifications, technical regulations and relevant legislation;
4. The time of adoption of this notification is yet to be determined.
